LONDON — Hundreds of emergency services staff and thousands of volunteers are taking part in a huge disaster training exercise across London this week.
The exercise, which is reportedly Europe’s largest, simulates a scenario based around a big tower block collapsing onto Waterloo tube station.
It’s taking place at four different venues in the capital over four days as well as an old, disused power station in Dartford, Kent.
2000 people have signed up to play casualties and members of the public during the exercise, with many dressed in fake blood and dirtied clothes to add to the realism. Read more…
